NJPW star KUSHIDA has been pulled from multiple events due to contracting hand, foot, and mouth disease.

After three years in WWE as part of the NXT brand, KUSHIDA made his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling on June 21st. The six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion immediately made his intentions of getting back to the top of the Junior Division clear.

It has been a bumpy road for the star as, despite multiple wins over current champion Taiji Ishimori and Bullet Club in tag action in July and August, he is yet to secure a title match against the Bone Soldier. To make matters worse, the recent Burning Spirit tour has seen him face several six-man tag defeats to the group.

Now, NJPW has announced that the Time Splitter has been pulled from several Burning Spirit dates as he recovers from hand, foot, and mouth disease. The condition can last for over a week and cause a fever, rashes, and blisters. It is also contagious.

KUSHIDA has shown the effects of the illness in a post on Instagram where he reveals he’s been “living like dead” for a few days.

“I’ve been living like dead these past few days…”

So far, KUSHIDA has missed three shows and not return date has yet been announced by NJPW.

We at Inside The Ropes hope that KUSHIDA has a quick and full recovery from this illness.
