Kurt Angle had a long and storied wrestling career, including two stints in WWE. He returned to WWE in 2017, had his retirement match in 2019, and has been making sporadic appearances since then.
But even though he isn’t appearing frequently, Angle’s has voiced his opinion on WWE happenings past and present.
And one of these recent happenings concerns the recently-returned Braun Strowman.
“You don’t let a guy like that go.” – Kurt Angle
To hype up this weekend’s Survivor Series event, Kurt Angle was asked about his Survivor Series experiences. During that conversation, Strowman’s name came up and Angle talked about the elimination tag match both of them fought in at the 2017 edition of Survivor Series.
On his Kurt Angle Show podcast, Angle thought poorly of that match’s finish because, in his view, it affected Strowman.
“It was used to help build the match between Ronda, myself, and Triple H, and Stephanie. So I understand why they planted the seed, I just don’t agree with what they did with Braun there. I understand [Triple H] giving me the Pedigree, screw me over… that made sense. But the thing with Braun Strowman of him hanging there high and dry made him look like an idiot.”
Strowman bounced back from that event and achieved in greater heights by winning the WWE Universal Championship. Then, he was released in 2021, only to return this past September.
The decision to release Strowman confused many fans and Kurt Angle as well. However, Angle’s glad that Strowman’s back in WWE.
“Braun’s a very valuable asset. He should’ve never left WWE. Should’ve never happened. The guy knows how to wrestle, he knows how to talk, he looks great, he’s a 350 pound monster. You don’t let a guy like that go. I don’t know how or why that happened.
Maybe it was for money reasons, I don’t know. But Braun Strowman’s back in the right place. He needs to be in WWE. That’s where he deserves to be.”
