Kurt Angle, a WWE Hall of Famer, still believes in the potential of Gable Steveson, despite his lacklustre debut match in NXT.
Gable Steveson, a highly regarded prospect, made his in-ring debut at NXT’s Great American Bash premium live event on July 30th, 2023, where he faced Baron Corbin.
The match, unfortunately, ended in a double count out after only six minutes, leaving fans disappointed. However, Angle, who has worked closely with Steveson, commended his athletic ability and highlighted the need for him to break the mould of being an amateur wrestler.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Angle emphasised the importance of Steveson learning how to show emotion and entertain the audience, a crucial aspect of professional wrestling.
We have to show people emotion. You have to show if you’re scared, or if you’re mad or if you’re, you know, excited. So there’s, there’s a lot. You have to have incredible charisma. And I think that Gable has that
Angle also shared his experience of doing a pre-tape promo with Steveson in Pittsburgh, where he performed reasonably well but acknowledged that there is room for improvement.
I do remember doing a pre-tape with him in Pittsburgh. And he did alright. You know, he didn’t do incredibly well. But he did well, that it was like, Okay, this kid. He has potential.
Despite his criticisms, Angle still believes that Steveson has a bright future in professional wrestling due to his incredible athleticism.
You know, he not only incredible on the mat wrestling, I mean, this kid, you know, he can do backflips. He’s really athletic, super athletic. And I think he’s gonna have a great future.
Reflecting on his time as a WWE producer, Kurt Angle knew he would be one of the first to go.
When Did Gable Steveson Last Wrestle?
Since the Great American Bash on July 30th, Gable Steveson has not made any appearances or been mentioned on NXT programming, leaving fans curious about his future in WWE.
Despite the mixed reception to his debut, many still believe that Steveson has the potential to become a major star in professional wrestling, and his next match will be crucial in shaping his WWE career.
