Kurt Angle Set To Undergo Surgery

Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle finally hung up his boots at WrestleMania 35 in 2019 as after a lifetime of physical competition his body cried enough.

Angle’s neck injuries have become the stuff of legend and date back to well before he even considered signing with WWE. However, these injuries only got worse during his time with the sports entertainment giant and later TNA with the star determined to wrestle in a physical and realistic style.

The WWE legend underwent surgery multiple times during his in-ring career and has since gone under the knife in retirement to repair the damage wrestling did to his body.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the star revealed that he’s due to undergo back surgery on March 21st. Angle explained that it’s not fusion surgery, but instead more of a clean-up operation to try and ease the pain in his leg and lower back.

“On March 21, I’m having it done, the day after my vacation. All they’re doing, they’re not going to do any fusion or anything like that, thank God. They’re going to clean it out. They’re going to clean all the arthritis out because I have a nerve going down my leg, and it’s bothered me, and there’s pain in my lower back. So they’re going to clean all that stuff out, take the bone chips out and the calcium and stuff like that. He said I should be good to go after that. I’ve had a lot of damage done to my back, but it’s not to the point where I need fusion,”

Angle most recently underwent surgery in May 2022 when he had both knees replaced at the same time.

Kurt Angle Will Be At WrestleMania

On an earlier episode of his podcast, Angle revealed that he’ll be in attendance at WrestleMania 39 and “doing some stuff” for WWE.

Angle’s last match came at the same event four years ago where he was defeated by Baron Corbin. He later described his final match against Corbin as “filler” before suggesting that he would have liked to have gone out against John Cena after a run with the World Championship.
