Kurt Angle says not to expect to see him wrestling for All Elite Wrestling even after a certain NBA legend tried to persuade the WWE Hall Of Famer to join the company.
Angle wrestled his last match in WWE at WrestleMania 35 in a losing effort against King Corbin. Prior to that, the Olympic gold medallist took part in a mini farewell tour as he competed against the likes of Chad Gable and Apollo Crews on Raw. Angle also tied up once more with his one-time TNA rival, AJ Styles.
Speaking to The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast, Kurt Angle discussed being done in the ring despite persuasion from Shaquille O’Neal.
“I’m in the best shape of my life, but I’m not going to wrestle. I’m done with that. Shaquille O’Neal just texted me today and said, ‘You need to come to AEW.’ I was like, ‘I’m not going to do that.’ Actually, if I did wrestle again, it would be most likely for WWE, but I’m not going to do that. AEW was always an option, I just never really considered it because I’m retired. I’ve heard the rumors. That’s what they are. They’re just rumors. People like to talk. They like to get excited about things, and, unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.”
O’Neal himself wrestled on AEW Dynamite in March 2021, teaming with the impressive Jade Cargill to defeat Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet.
Kurt Angle has also recently discussed what ended his own brother’s potential wrestling career with WWE.
