Kurt Angle has accomplished plenty in his decades-long career, portraying a wide range of both athletic ability and character work.
However, not every storyline in his WWE career is remembered as fondly as him spraying The Alliance with milk or singing backstage with Stone Cold Steve Austin. In 2005, Angle found himself at odds with Booker T in a storyline that saw the Olympic gold medalist obsessed with Booker’s wife Sharmell to the point of stalking her.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer said that he wants nothing to do with the storyline and would rather have given up the opportunity to wrestle Booker than have to make creepy advances toward his wife.
“I totally regret it. I didn’t want any part of it. Even though I got to wrestle Booker, I’d rather not wrestle Booker than do what I had to do with Sharmell.”
Vince McMahon Wanted Kurt Angle “To Be A Pervert”
Continuing, Kurt Angle made it clear that while he believes Sharmell and Booker worked well together, he doesn’t believe her involvement was necessary in their feud as they had enough heat going into the rivalry without the added layer of storytelling. He believes WWE Chairman Vince McMahon wanted Booker’s wife involved due to the couple’s on-screen chemistry, and while Angle would have preferred she be left out, he believes McMahon wanted the storyline to be edgy.
“Vince that this thing that you know, for some reason, wanted me to be a pervert.”
Angle also mentioned his belief that McMahon asked him to be part of this storyline as he’s dated Black women in the past.
Sharmell was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2022.
