WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle has discussed who he would like to see in a new incarnation of his former stable, Team Angle.
In early 2003, the WWE Universe was introduced by Paul Heyman to his special gift to his client, the then-WWE Champion Kurt Angle, his very own team. Team Angle was comprised of Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas who were tasked with helping Angle keep his title at every opportunity.
Benjamin and Haas soon achieved success as a duo when they captured the WWE Tag Team Championship in February 2003 but were not able to help Angle keep his WWE Title when he lost to Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 19.
Now speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic gold medallist discussed who he’d put in a new iteration of the group and it definitely has an Olympic ring to it:
“You know what I’d like to do? I’d like to manage the Olympians…When Gable Steveson starts his career, he and Chad Gable, that would be the new Team Angle. I would love to do that. That’s what they would be called, The Gables. You got to have Otis in there.”
Gable Steveson captured the Olympic gold medal in heavyweight freestyle wrestling at the delayed Tokyo Games in 2021. Since then he has signed with WWE and has been drafted to Raw. At WrestleMania 38 Steveson appeared in the ring following the Raw Tag Team Title bout where he took out Chad Gable.
