Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, Kurt Angle has heaped praise on one particular WWE Hall of Famer.
On the latest edition of The Kurt Angle Show, available via Ad Free Shows, Angle reflected on sharing the ring with Shawn Michaels. In particular his 30-minute Iron Man Match against the Show Stopper on Monday Night Raw in 2005.
During the conversation Angle detailed how he found out he would be facing Michaels at WrestleMania 21, while revealing that he requested a move to Raw to make a feud between the pair happen.
Looking back on his matches with HBK, Angle broke down what made Michaels so good in the ring before calling him “The best overall entertainer in wrestling history.”
“He is not stiff, you don’t even feel it,” Angle said. “He barely touches you, that’s what makes him such a pro. I don’t know if he’s ever stiffed anybody, Shawn is that good. He’s able to gage shots, punches, kicks. His athleticism in the ring, he’s unbelievable. He does things that nobody else can do and he’s the jack of all trades. Across the board, he’s the best overall entertainer in the history of wrestling. Ric Flair is up there, Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Jericho too, especially late in his career the way he’s going. Shawn is probably in a class of his own.”
On previous episodes of his podcast, Angle has praised his match with Michaels, adding that the two men were left alone to put their clash at WrestleMania 21 together themselves. Speaking earlier in 2021, Angle also revealed that the bout was his biggest single payday in wrestling.
