Kurt Angle has revealed that there’s an “idea” for him to appear at WrestleMania 39 in California.
On August 29th Kurt Angle returned to Monday Night Raw for hilarious interactions with Edge and Alpha Academy in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The appearance was Angle’s first on Raw in person in two years.
Kurt Angle hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35, although there have since been offers made by AEW. Angle has also hinted that he could wrestle again, commenting in August that he could be tempted to get back in the ring.
During an appearance on the Wrassingh Show, Angle was asked about whether a deal with AEW would jeopardise his relationship with WWE. Angle explained that yes it would, before revealing that there have been talks over him appearing at WrestleMania 39.
“Yes, I do,” he said. “It’s natural to think that. I have a contract with WWE, it’s a nostalgia contract. It’s more of a merchandise contract. I always try to keep a good relationship with them, ever since I left them for TNA and came back to WWE. I don’t want to do that again. I don’t want to jump ship because WWE has always been good to me. They keep me active now. I was just on the show two weeks ago.
They’re talking about maybe me doing something at WrestleMania. They are always reaching out to me to help do media and stuff like that, kind of be an ambassador for the company. I like doing that. I don’t mind because I can’t wrestle anymore.”
When asked to clarify his potential role at WrestleMania, the WWE Hall of Famer confirmed that he will not be wrestling.
“It’s just an idea. It won’t be in a wrestling capacity at all. There is nothing there yet.”
WrestleMania 39 is scheduled to take place across April 1st and April 2nd 2023 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It has been widely reported that the event will be headlined by a dream match main event between The Rock and Roman Reigns.
