Kurt Angle Hated WWE Attitude Era Faction: “I Didn’t Think It Worked”

Kurt Angle Hated WWE Attitude Era Faction:

Kurt Angle did not see the appeal in Right To Censor.

The faction debuted in WWE in the year 2000 as a parody of the Parents Television Council, an organisation that took issue with some of the more extreme facets of The Attitude Era. Beginning with Stevie Richards, the group would later see Bull Buchanan and Ivory join along with previously outlandish wrestlers The Godfather and Val Venis being drastically repackaged as less controversial characters, with The Godfather being renamed The Goodfather.

Wrestling in white shirts and having an irritating entrance theme, the faction definitely got heat with the crowd. However, as Angle described, many were not fans of the group at all.

Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the Hall of Famer was asked on his thoughts on the group. Angle responded that the idea was a misfire in The Attitude Era and in particular called out the group’s ring gear:

It was horrible. I’ll be honest with you, it got heat, but it wasn’t the right kind of heat. Those guys made me sick. Honestly, man, it just didn’t. I didn’t think it worked. You know, here they are with the button-up shirts all the way up to the top. And, you know, they’re like, I don’t even know what kind of gang they were. But it was just, you know, they looked like a bunch of office guys trying to wrestle. I don’t know, I didn’t like it.

Disbanding shortly after WrestleMania 17, Ivory revived the character for one night only in 2022 as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. Walking to the ring as the signature siren blared, the Hall of Famer blasted the other competitors in the ring before being quickly eliminated by Rhea Ripley.

Kurt Angle Criticises TNA

After winning a gold medal at the 1996 Olympics with a broken neck and having a successful career in WWE from 1999 to 2006, Angle would shockingly sing with TNA and remain with the promotion for a decade. While wrestling for TNA, Kurt Angle believes that the promotion should have done more to protect him while he was injured.
