Kurt Angle has made the bold claim that AEW’s Chris Jericho has surpassed Shawn Michaels as the greatest pro wrestler of all time.
While many believe that Kurt Angle is the greatest pro wrestler to ever grace the squared circle, the WWE Hall of Famer has another man in mind when it comes to the Greatest Of All Time.
Ina recent interview with Lucha Libre Online, Angle said that Chris Jericho’s ability to reinvent himself and still be effective even at 52 years old put him up there with Shawn Michaels as one of the best ever. However, the fact he continues to perform at a high level meant that, for Angle at least, Jericho was now the greatest ever.
“What he’s been able to do with his characters, changing and innovating himself and being able to be as effective as he is in the business this late in his career, at 51, 52 years of age, and being in the business for over 30 years.”
“He put in a lot of time and a lot of effort, and he’s very talented. So, I put him up there with Michaels, but now, after being in AEW and doing the things he’s doing now, he has to be the greatest of all time, especially the amount of years he put in.”
Over his 32-year career, Chris Jericho has seen and done it all. During his time in WWE from 1999-2018 he was not only a nine-time Intercontinental Champion but was the first-ever WWE Undisputed Champion after beating The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin on the same night at Vengeance in December 2001.
Jericho was one of the first to sign with AEW in January 2019 and became the inaugural AEW World Champion at All Out that August. Since then, he has continued to be one of the company’s top stars and has recently embraced Sports Entertainment and formed the Jericho Appreciation Society.
