Japanese star Konosuke Takeshita has claimed he’s not interested in a run with WWE despite rumours linking him with a switch.
Back in early August it was reported that WWE are on the lookout for a new Japanese Superstar. This same report also suggested that Konosuke Takeshita has everything that the new-look WWE are aiming for.
This in turn led to speculation that WWE might make an attempt to sign the star who has just brought the curtain down on a four-month stint in AEW.
However, it appears that the man himself as no interest in appearing in WWE any time soon. Speaking to Cultaholic, Takeshita instead revealed that his first target is to secure more appearances with AEW.
“To be honest, now I’m not interested in WWE. My next goal is more fights in AEW I hope. So I have to go to back to Japan in August and September. Maybe, not decided yet, I hope I go back to America in October. Then if I stay in the US I can come to the UK more times. From Japan to the UK is so far but US to UK is maybe seven hours. It’s possible,”
Following his four-month run in AEW, Takeshita’s stock is at an all-time high. During this period, the star has tangled with some of the best that the company has to offer. Although he may not have emerged with wins in his most high-profile bouts, Takeshita still pushed Jon Moxley, Hangman Adam Page and Claudio Castagnoli all the way. But he did sign off with a win, defeating Ryan Nemeth on Dark: Elevation.
This spell prompted Chris Jericho to tip the star to go all of the way to the top and become World Champion.
