Konnan “Still Negotiating” With WWE

Konnan

On the March 10th episode of SmackDown, it was announced that Rey Mysterio would be entering the WWE Hall of Fame.

Soon after, it was reported that former WCW star Konnan would be inducting Mysterio as the two have shared a long history together. According to the report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, there was “no other choice” and WWE approved Konnan after Mysterio asked for him personally.

However, speaking in a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, the deal between Konnan and WWE isn’t as cut and dried as was originally reported. According to the veteran himself, he has spoken with the company about inducting his friend into the Hall of Fame, but the two sides have not yet reached a deal and nothing is set in stone until an official announcement.

“Well, I would be very disappointed if it wasn’t me, but Rey has asked me, so we’re still negotiating. Until they put it out there, Until they officially announce it, I really can’t say anything on it, but I have been contacted.” (h/t Fightful)

Rey Mysterio’s Son Dominik Wants A Match With His Father At WWE WrestleMania

Rey and Dominik Mysterio have been at odds ever since Dominik turned on his father to join The Judgment Day. The younger Mysterio has often tried to goad his father into physical confrontations, even bringing his on-screen partner Rhea Ripley to the family home on holidays to antagonize Rey and his wife Angie. Dominik was arrested on Christmas Eve after showing up to a family party uninvited, and his time behind bars seems to have toughened his resolve.

Immediately after Rey Mysterio’s WWE Hall of Fame induction was announced on March 10th, Dominik confronted his father once more, calling him a deadbeat dad and shoving him as Rey attempted to calm down the situaiton.

On March 17th, Dominik officially challenged his father to a match at WrestleMania, but Rey called the idea of facing his son a “disgrace.”

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set to take place on Friday, March 31st, immediately following SmackDown. Separate tickets are not required for those in attendance for SmackDown.
