Mexican wrestling legend Konnan has revealed that he asked Tony Khan the question on the lips of wrestling fans the world over, have you signed Daniel Bryan?
Speaking on his Keepin It 100 podcast, Konnan said that he asked the AEW President directly whether he had signed the former WWE Champion. The question arose because Konnan wanted to try and book Bryan to appear in Mexico with AAA.
Recalling the conversation, Konnan explained that Khan didn’t offer much of an answer, leading him to believe that Bryan has signed with the company.
“I will tell you this because I did ask Tony Khan,” Konnan said. “The only reason I asked him is because I wanted to use Bryan Danielson in AAA.
“I was like, ‘Hey man, have you signed Bryan Danielson?’ He goes, ‘You know I can’t tell you that’ and then I looked at him and I go ‘bro, if that **** shows up in Chicago, that place is gonna melt’, and he just smiled. So I think he might have but he has not told me.”
The “Chicago” that Konnan mentions above is in reference to AEW All Out which is set to take place at the NOW Centre in Hoffman Estates.
In recent days numerous reports have suggested that Daniel Bryan will in fact debut at AEW Grand Slam which will be held at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York on September 22nd. Initial reports linking Bryan with AEW suggested that he was looking for an easier schedule, the ability to work in Japan and creative input over his character.
Interestingly, when it was reported that WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling were in talks over a working relationship, it was noted that Daniel Bryan’s future was “at the crux” of the discussions.
