Konnan has hit out at former AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida claiming that she has “no charisma.”
On a recent episode of the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, a fan questioned whether Bayley was a top star before comparing her to Hikaru Shida.
Bayley is widely credited as being one of the most important female performers in recent WWE history alongside fellow Horsewomen Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks. The stars helped revolutionise and reshape women’s wrestling in WWE, with Bayley being one of the most popular stars in NXT history.
Since moving the the main roster she has continued to rack up the silverware, enjoying multiple reigns as Women’s Champion.
With regard to Hikaru Shida, the Japanese star signed with AEW in 2019 and still holds the record for the longest Women’s Championship reign in history, with a run lasting 372 days.
Speaking on the podcast, Konnan dismissed suggestions that the two women are comparable, commenting that Shida has “no charisma.”
“Bro, comparing her to [Hikaru] Shida? Give me a break. I mean Shida is really, you know, really nothing happening there. No charisma,”
Hikaru Shida made her most challenge for AEW at gold at All Out when she featured in a Four-Way Match to crown a new Interim Women’s Champion. The match was eventually won by Toni Storm.
Meanwhile in WWE, since returning at SummerSlam Bayley has set her sights on Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. It has been announced that the two women will meet at Extreme Rules in Ladder Match with the gold on the line. The bout will be the first-ever singles women’s Ladder Match in WWE history.
