WWE Hall of Famer Koko B Ware made his professional debut in 1978, and after performing in promotions such as Continental Wrestling Alliance and World Class Championship Wrestling as well as various NWA territories, adopted the persona of “Birdman” in 1986 while working for UWF. Ware would make his way to the ring flapping his arms and entered to the song The Bird by Morris Day.
War would continue his Birdman persona when he signed with the WWE in August of 1986, and the act was elevated when he began making his ring entrance along with a macaw named Frankie, one of the most iconic wrestling pets in history. He became popular with crowds as he wore bright clothing, colorful sunglasses, and wore a constant smile as he delighted audiences with his vibrato singing voice.
After an uneven singles run, he formed a tag team with Owen Hart in 1992. With their iconic neon clothing and checkered suspenders, the high flying duo were well-recognized despite their losing record against many established teams in the company. When Owen Hart suffered a knee injury in 1993, the team was no more, and Ware returned to a singles run that saw him rack up numerous victories until his release from WWE in 1994.
Koko B Ware was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009 alongside Stone Cold Steve Austin, Ricky Steamboat, Jim Ross, Bill Watts, Gene Okerlund, and Howard Finkel.
