Speculation has been running wild over the past two weeks over Vince McMahon’s first-rumored-and-then-later-confirmed return to WWE. Following his daughter Stephanie McMahon’s resignation and the departures of others on WWE’s Board of Directors, there has been plenty of uncertainty over the company’s direction.
But one wrestler has stepped forward to try and assure fans that despite all the changes at the top of WWE, the wrestling will stay the same.
Kofi Kingston addresses whether WWE’s wrestling will change as Vince McMahon reclaims control
Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has remained optimistic amidst all the news updates, rumors, and theories over who will control what and how. In an interview with CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri on SHAK Wrestling, Kofi explained that he doubts much will actually change vis-à-vis the actual regular in-ring product.
“I think we kind of all have the same mentality, like whatever happens outside of the company is going to happen. We really have no idea what’s transpiring, but our role remains the same, it’s just go out there and put on great matches.
That is the one thing, regardless of whoever’s in charge or whoever owns this or that, you know what I mean, that’s what we’re gonna do. That’s what we’re always gonna do.”
According to the most up-to-date reports, Paul “Triple H” Levesque is still in charge of WWE’s creative and all decisions pertaining to the actual wrestling and promotion of big events must be approved by him.
Vince McMahon’s return is said to be more of a business and finance-related matter. He’s reported to only be focusing on the company’s financial well-being as it related to corporate partners and possible mergers or sales.
