Kofi Kingston Breaks Silence Following Accidental Royal Rumble Elimination

Kofi Kingston

The streak is over for Kofi Kingston and his majestic escapes from elimination at the Royal Rumble after his latest attempt to thwart defeat went badly wrong.

For over a decade and across fourteen Royal Rumble match appearances Kofi Kingston has been wowing fans with his daredevil escapes from elimination. Whether it has been the ringside barrier, the steel steps, or even commentator JBL’s chair, Kingston often leaves no stone unturned in his quest to keep both his feet from hitting the ground.

However, at the 2022 Royal Rumble, the former WWE Champion’s luck finally ran out. Just seconds after Kingston made his entrance in the men’s Rumble match at number 24, the New Day star was hurled over the top rope by Kevin Owens. Kingston attempted to catch himself on the barrier at ringside but slipped with both his feet clearly hitting the floor, eliminating him from the bout in just 21 seconds.

Kofi Kingston has now broken his silence following the event on social media where he remained philosophical:

“Welp! *crying laughing emoji* ‘It is Better to Try and Fail Than Never to Try at All.’ – someone said this”

Reports following the Royal Rumble confirmed that Kingston’s early elimination was not planned and seemed to suggest he’d have some interaction with his New Day partner Big E – who entered the Rumble at number 26 – but that did not come to fruition.

The men’s Royal Rumble bout was won in the end by shock number 30 entrant Brock Lesnar. Lesnar had lost his WWE Championship to Bobby Lashley earlier in the night thanks to interference from Roman Reigns and a double-cross from his advocate Paul Heyman.
