KO-D Openweight Title Match Set For CyberFight Festival

The CyberFight stable’s enormous Saitama Super Arena show, CyberFight Festival 2021, has announced its first title match.

Representing DDT Pro Wrestling, current KO-D Openweight Champion Jun Akiyama will defend his belt against one of DDT’s most hallowed grapplers, HARASHIMA.

Both men were in action at last weekend’s April Fool 2021 show, with HARASHIMA capturing the KO-D Tag Team Championships alongside Yuji Okabayashi, whilst Akiyama saw off the title challenge of Danshoku Dieno in the main event.

Following the match, HARASHIMA confronted Akiyama, offering praise and noting his rampant success in DDT before reminding Akiyama that the champion had yet to beat him.

HARASHIMA then issued a direct challenge to Akiyama, which the veteran swiftly accepted for CyberFest 2021.

However, Akiyama had a trick up his sleeve.

Before HARASHIMA could get too excited, the former GHC Heavyweight Champion requested that he and Junretsu stablemate Makoto Oishi receive a tag team title shot in return for the title match.

All parties were at ringside and agreed, with Akiyama playing match-maker and asking the DDT General Manager when Okabayashi, a regular with Big Japan, was next booked to appear.

The match was then set for the April 18th show in Niigata show and promises to be an intriguing precursor to Akiyama and HARASHIMA’s CyberFight Festival singles clash.

The match is the third to be announced for the Festival, with two inter-promotional matches between Pro Wrestling NOAH and DDT having already been confirmed.
