On Friday night’s edition of SmackDown, Seth Rollins, King Corbin and Ruby Riott all qualified for their respective teams at Survivor Series on November 22.
First up was King Corbin who had to find his way through a returning Rey Mysterio. Mysterio, who had been out of action with torn triceps since WWE Payback in August, was preoccupied with the ongoing storyline in which his daughter Aalyah is dating Murphy.
More bothered about the appearance of Seth Rollins halfway through the bout, Rey’s attention was drawn to the ambush of his son Dominik on the outside by ‘The Greater Good’ and he walked straight into End of Days sending Corbin through to the men’s Team SmackDown.
After taking credit for Rey’s loss, Seth Rollins found himself across the ring from Otis who was still reeling after his defeat to The Miz and the betrayal of Tucker.
Once again involving the Mysterio/Murphy storyline, Rollins was joined by his former disciple at ringside following his promise last week that he would accept the couple even if Aalyah’s family had spurned them.
Repaying the loyalty, the Australian provided the distraction which allowed Rollins to nail Otis with The Stomp for the victory and a place on Team SmackDown at Survivor Series. Following the bout, Murphy appeared to rejoin his former messiah, telling his girlfriend that it was all for the greater good.
Finally, Ruby Riott made short work of Natalya and Zelina Vega in a Triple Threat Match to take a place on the women’s Team SmackDown. Sporting a new look, Riott managed to submit Vega with an armbar after Natalya had released her Sharpshooter.
Ruby Riott joins Bianca Belair with the other three members of the women’s Team SmackDown still to be decided, while Seth Rollins and King Corbin will serve alongside Kevin Owens and Jey Uso with the final member to be added next week.
