Kevin Owens’ match against Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble has just got a whole lot more interesting.
WWE has announced that Owens will take on The Bloodline’s enforcer Solo Sikoa on the January 27th episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
Kevin Owens Gains The Upper Hand On SmackDown
The news comes after the feud between Reigns and Owens went to a whole new level on the most recent episode of the blue brand. On the show, Reigns was again distracted by questions from Sami Zayn. After Reigns seemingly snubbed the Honorary Uce in the parking lot, Zayn questioned his Tribal Chief and said he was wondering whether Owens was right when he said he was being used.
Reigns then demanded that Zayn leave before later being talked around by Paul Heyman. The Special Counsel said that it might be better to have Zayn onside at least for the Royal Rumble. This led to a reconciliation later in the show.
In the main event segment, Owens and Reigns were supposed to have a contract signing to confirm their upcoming clash. Reigns was out first and proceeded to put his feet on the table in the ring. However, he wasn’t prepared for what came next. Owens entered through the crowd and attacked everyone standing in his way, eventually driving Reigns through a table.
The show went off the air with Sami Zayn running to the ring, but only after Owens signed the contract he’d snatched from a shaken Paul Heyman.
Kevin Owens appeared wearing a black armband emblazoned with the word “Jay” in tribute to his friend Jay Briscoe who passed away just three days earlier.
