Kevin Owens has suffered a legitimate injury.
On the July 24th episode of Raw, Judgment Day opened the show to bask in the glory of their recent victories and look forward to those still to come. Rhea Ripley is the Women’s World Champion, Damian Priest is Mr. Money In The Bank, Finn Balor will be the next World Heavyweight Champion and Dirty Dom is North American Champion.
The celebrations were eventually broken up by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, and KO told Dom that no one wanted to hear him speak ever again.
Mysterio responded by saying that he was being disrespected, and this caused Sami Zayn to challenge him to a match for the North American Title.
The match itself involved all of the usual ringside shenanigans with Owens as well as the rest of Judgment Day being sent to the back. However, that wasn’t the end of the matter. With the match nearing its conclusion, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley appeared on the top of the ramp with a beaten-down KO, enabling Mysterio to grab a quick win.
Later in the show, Owens was shown backstage being tended to by medics with them speculating that he could have suffered a rib injury.
It was then reported by WRKD Wrestling that Owens is genuinely injured although it’s unclear how long he’ll be out of the ring.
Kevin Owens has suffered a legitimate injury that is being used to advance the story. It is currently unclear how long he’ll be sidelined.
When Did Kevin Owens Last Wrestle?
Kevin Owens hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Sami Zayn on July 17th to defend the World Tag Team Titles against Judgment Day. The star has missed all subsequent live events, including WWE’s record-breaking trip to Mexico.
Recently Dave Meltzer reported that WWE are not planning on stripping Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens of the WWE Tag Team Championship, despite both men being injured.
