Kevin Owens says he’s taking a little break after falling to defeat against perennial rival Sami Zayn at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.
In a rematch from WrestleMania 37, Owens and Zayn went one-on-one, this time without YouTube star and sometimes boxer Logan Paul at ringside. In a typically back and forth match the two former Intercontinental Champions engaged in bruising combat before a senton over the top by Zayn appeared to injure Owens’ wrist.
Zayn then overpowered Owens while the commentary team of Michael Cole and Pat McAfee wondered aloud if the match would need to be stopped. Owens came back with a late flurry before a Helluva kick from Zayn sent Owens crashing to the mat for the pinfall.
Now taking to social media, Kevin Owens says it’s time for a break, his full Tweet reads:
“I fought like hell. Now, I need a little break. I’ll be back soon. Thank you, guys.”

Kevin Owens’ last one-on-one pinfall victory came in his match against Zayn at WrestleMania 37. After that match, Logan Paul who had been brought to ringside by Sami Zayn tried to celebrate with Owens before being dropped with a Stunner.
More recently, Owens has been involved in battles with Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews. Zayn’s interfering cost Owens and Big E their match against Crews and his giant henchman Commander Azeez on SmackDown.
Elsewhere at Hell In A Cell Bobby Lashley retained his WWE Championship inside the Cell against Drew McIntyre. That result means McIntyre will be unable to compete for the WWE Title for as long as Lashley remains champion. It was a good night for champions in WWE as both women’s champions also retained their titles albeit under very different circumstances. Bianca Belair competed in her first Hell In A Cell match and defeated Bayley. Later in the evening, Rhea Ripley retained her Raw Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair despite losing the match via disqualification.
