Kevin Owens Reveals Why No-One Helped Him At TLC, Jericho Responds

Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho

It is no exaggeration to say that Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns went to war at WWE TLC for the WWE Universal Championship. Following interference from Jey Uso and a low blow, Reigns eventually retained, but Owens came as close as anyone to dethroning the champion in an incredibly hard fought contest.

After the match Owens took to Twitter, simply writing “Thank you all.” A fan then responded to this, questioning why Owens hadn’t received any help during the match to which Owens replied, “Consequences of my actions for many years.”

However, while Kevin Owens may feel that he’s ploughing a lone furrow in his fight against the Tribal Chief, Jey Uso and Paul Heyman, it seems one old friend hasn’t forgotten him. Chris Jericho may now be helping spearhead the competition in the form of AEW but it appears that his bond with Owen’s remains intact, commenting that he would have made the save had he been there.

The team of Jericho and Owens is still looked back upon with great fondness by fans, and the Festival Of Friendship celebration which would lead to the break-up of the pair will stand as one of the greatest RAW segments of all time. The two went on to clash at Wrestlemaina 33, in a match that Jericho later revealed to Inside The Ropes that Vince McMahon called one of the worst Wrestlemania matches in history.

While Owens may or may not have welcomed help from his former best friend, it appears that there’s one old friend that he doesn’t want to come to his aid. Sami Zayn and Owens have a long and storied history, but for now at least, it looks as if Owens would rather keep the current Intercontinental champion at arms length due to, of all things, Zayn’s wild haircut.

Proof if ever it were needed, that Kevin Owens’ Twitter game remains unmatched.

In much more serious matters, it has already been confirmed that Owens and Reigns will do battle inside a steel cage this coming Friday on SmackDown. You can follow all of the action from that match and the rest of the blue brand here on Inside The Ropes.
