‘The Prizefighter’ Kevin Owens has revealed that he suffered a nasty burn during his Last Man Standing Match with Roman Reigns at the 2021 Royal Rumble.
On January 31, WWE Universal Champion and ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns defended his coveted blue strap against former champion Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing Match that was thought to be the blow-off to their epic rivalry that has taken in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs bout and a Christmas Day Steel Cage encounter.
During that match, as both men brawled into the stands and through the ThunderDome screens, the champion pitched his foe from a platform through several awaiting tables and electrical equipment. Despite Owens recovering enough to continue the bout and hit a senton from the summit of a forklift, he didn’t come away from the spot unharmed.
Speaking to FOX Sports, the latest incumbent of the Stunner revealed the burn he received upon connection with the electrical equipment and how he’s tried to exhibit it to the television camera since:
“Yeah, I feel great. I don’t know. This stuff, I feel it for a few days and then guess my body – obviously, my body recovers – but, I think my body’s just so used to that kind of punishment throughout the years that, honestly, the worst thing from all of it was people noticed that I got burned. I’m not trying to show the new tattoo, I’m just trying to show the burn. Trying to get in close.”
While many thought the Royal Rumble was the conclusion of the thrilling rivalry, Kevin Owens had other ideas and struck again on the February 5 and February 12 edition of Friday Night SmackDown when he dropped the champion with multiple Stunners.
Kevin Owens will be one of the six men to compete inside the SmackDown Elimination Chamber on February 21, with the winner receiving an immediate WWE Universal Championship Match from the awaiting ‘Head of the Table.’
