Kevin Owens Returns To WWE In Dark SmackDown Segment [Video]

Kevin Owens in the ring

Kevin Owens has made his return to WWE after a short spell on the sidelines due to a fractured rib injury.

Owens, who currently holds one-half of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship, has been off WWE programming since the July 24th edition of RAW where he was attacked by The Judgement Day and was speculated to have suffered a rib injury. The angle was, in fact, a cover-up for a fractured rib that Owens legitimately suffered.

Despite both Owens and his partner Sami Zayn both suffering injuries recently, the company reportedly had no plans to strip either of their titles and it was later noted that the former Universal Champion was not expected to be out of action for long. Now, nearly a month on from his last appearance, Owens is seemingly back already!

Following the August 18th edition of SmackDown, Edge addressed his hometown crowd regarding rumoured uncertainty surrounding the future of his in-ring career. The WWE Hall of Famer was interrupted by Imperium’s Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci who made their way to the ring and indicated an impending attack on Edge.

Luckily, several stars came to the Rated-R Superstar’s aid: First, Drew McIntyre made his way onto the stage before being followed by the returning Owens as well as Sami Zayn. The trio, alongside Edge, drove the Intercontinental Champion and his stablemates away and the four celebrated in the ring together to close the show for the fans in attendance.

Video footage of the return later circulated on social media, showing Owens getting physical with Kaiser – suggesting he is more than ready to return to in-ring action.

Kevin Owens Admits He Was “Upset” Over Elimination Chamber Snub

During his brief time away from WWE, Owens spoke to the Toronto Sun and admitted that he was “hurt” and “upset” by not having a match at Elimination Chamber earlier this year.

The show took place in his hometown of Montreal and featured his close friend Sami Zayn in the main event, who unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Owens did make an appearance during the show following the main event to come to Zayn’s aid, but The Prizefighter ultimately felt the brief cameo was “meaningless.”
