Kevin Owens would love a WrestleMania match against a fellow Universal Champion.
Owens made his latest appearance on The Grandest Stage at WrestleMania 40, joining Randy Orton in unsuccessfully challenging Logan Paul for the United States Championship, largely in part thanks to help from YouTube star IShowSpeed. With previous matches against the likes of Seth Rollins and Steve Austin on his resume, Owens is already looking to the next event.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Owens looked back on his WWE tenure and stated that at he had never faced off against a certain Hall of Famer. Additionally, if he gets the chance to compete at the show again, he would love it to be against a member of The Judgment Day:
“I’ve never had a singles match against Rey Mysterio. If I have another WrestleMania in me, I’d love to wrestle Finn Balor there. But as far as just goals, I think I’ve had it so good; I really can’t ask for more,” said Owens.
Owens then looked back on his Mania history with Sami Zayn, who became the new Intercontinental champion at WrestleMania 40. Acknowledging that they both made their Mania debuts in 2016, the former Universal Champion thought that their encounter at Wrestlemania 37 was going to be the peak but is happy to be wrong:
“Sami and I had our first WrestleMania together in a ladder match as opponents. Two years later, we were teaming against Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan,” Owens said. “Then we got a singles match a few years later, and I was like ‘It’s not gonna get any better than that.’ And then it did last year.”
Concluding his thoughts, Owens revealed how his mindset has changed over the years when thinking about WrestleMania:
“I used to be so obsessed with just wanting to do more. And a lot of that made it so that I wouldn’t enjoy it,” Owens noted. “Teaming with Jericho for all those months and the story we had was so incredible, but in that moment, I didn’t enjoy it like I should have.”
Kevin Owens Against WWE Championship Win
Although Owens was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture the United States Championship once more, The Prizefighter will be hoping that there will be more championship success before his career comes to an end. However, in a separate interview, Kevin Owens explained why there is one championship he does not want to win again.
