Fresh off wrestling the legendary ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38, Kevin Owens has made a challenge for WrestleMania 39 directed towards Matthew McConaughey.

Night one of WrestleMania 38 saw Kevin Owens host the KO Show with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, which ultimately turned into a No Holds Barred match, marking Austin’s first match since WrestleMania XIX. ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ walked away with the victory after dishing out a Stunner to Owens.

Kevin Owens has now turned his attention towards WrestleMania 39, which goes down on 1 and 2 April 2023 from SoFi Stadium. Despite currently being involved in a feud with Ezekiel, ‘The Prizefighter’ wants to face Hollywood icon Matthew McConaughey at ‘The Showcase of the Immortals’.

Talking to Corey Graves on After The Bell, the former WWE Universal Champion acknowledged how McConaughey had previously stated he’d want to do something in WWE (h/t Sportskeeda):

“I remember not long after that [McConaughey attending a WWE show] he talked about how he’d love to do something in WWE. I don’t know him at all, but to me he seems like the kind of guy who would be coming in to do it right and have a blast. People like that are welcome in our industry any time.”

In response to Graves saying that After The Bell guests often speak things into existence, Kevin Owens spoke directly to McConaughey for a WrestleMania 39 match:

“So yeah, if we’re speaking things into existence, WrestleMania 39, come at me, McConaughey, I’m gonna f*ck you up!”

This would hardly be the first time a celebrity has competed at WrestleMania, as the likes of Bad Bunny, Lawrence Taylor, and Snooki have wrestled at the event previously. Just this year, Logan Paul and Johnny Knoxville would be added to the list, with Paul defeating The Mysterios alongside The Miz, while Knoxville pinned Sami Zayn.

McConaughey has previously expressed interest in a potential wrestling career, with The Wedding Planner actor speaking to Maria Menounos for her Better Together podcast:

“I’ll say… not too much, because as you know, you can’t say too much about these things, but it is, uh, it is something that interests me…”

Kevin Owens himself has worked with celebrities in the past, too. He delivered a Stunner to Logan Paul at WrestleMania 37, while also previously Powerbombing Machine Gun Kelly off the stage on an episode of Raw.
