Although he played a key role in the main event at Survivor Series, Kevin Owens almost didn’t make the event at all.
Owens sustained a knee injury during a match at a live event on November 13th against Austin Theory and this placed his involvement in doubt. However, the star was able to return to the ring, and wrestle inside WarGames as planned. Despite this, after the event it was noted that Owens was still injured.
Kevin Owens Admits To Being “Beat Up”
While there has been much speculation around Owens’ condition, the man himself had remained quiet on his current status until now. During an appearance on the After The Bell podcast, the former Universal Champion said that he was fine, although that isn’t always the case.
“I guess I’m fine, I think. It really changes by the day. You could ask me that question tomorrow and I’m feeling awful, but today I’m okay. I’ll get out of my car and my back could be shot and I’m not aware until I start walking. The last few months have been interesting in that aspect. I’ll wake up fine and by 2 o’clock, my knees don’t work.
It really hasn’t started hitting me until recently, honestly. These weird aches and pains will come and go. In this moment, I’m sitting in my truck, I feel great,” he said. “My back was really bothering me going into it [WWE Raw], already, and I’ve had knee issues the last few weeks.
I went in feeling pretty beat up, but it worked out really good and I think everyone enjoyed the match, and so did I. It’s nice to walk away from it all with people enjoying what you do.”
Following his exploits at Survivor Series, and eventual defeat at the hands of Sami Zayn and The Bloodline, Kevin Owens defeated Jey Uso on Monday Night Raw.
Meanwhile it was recently reported that Owens was hand picked by Roman Reigns to be involved with the current storyline featuring The Bloodline. This followed the news that KO was left to face the wrath of the Tribal Chief after fully connecting with a hard slap during the match which left his rival nursing a couple of very real injuries.
