Kevin Owens Details Scrapped Plans For Special WrestleMania Entrance

Kevin Owens has looked back on his WrestleMania history and 2 instances where he hoped to have something different for his entrance.

WWE has a history of making Superstar entrances extra special for the biggest show of the year. From Shawn Michaels ziplining to the ring to live renditions of entrance themes to the many grandiose entrances Triple H had throughout his career, many stars have seen their Mania moment kick off in style. However, when Owens made a pitch for a unique Mania entrance, Vince McMahon questioned the logic behind it.

While appearing on the My Mom’s Basement podcast, Owens first told Robbie Fox about his Mania debut in 2016. The former Universal Champion noted that he wanted a live band where he would destroy the instruments but Vince McMahon was against it:

“The first year, [my] first WrestleMania, I pitched to Vince [McMahon], ‘What if the live band is playing my music but when I come out, I’m looking at them and I just start smashing all the instruments because they are taking the spotlight off of me?’

He goes, ‘That doesn’t make any sense. Why would you bring them here to play your music and then smash their instruments?’ I go, ‘No, I think people will assume that WWE had them and I did…’ He goes, ‘Why would you be mad they’re playing your music?’ ‘I have to share the stage with them.’ ‘No.’ ‘Okay.’

Continuing, Owens also spoke about his WrestleMania 39 match that saw him team with Sami Zayn to defeat The Usos and win the Tag Team Championships in the main event. Once again requesting a special entrance, Owens elaborated on why Triple H didn’t think they needed anything different:

The other was WrestleMania 39 in LA. Me and Sami [Zayn] are in the ring during the afternoon, looking at everyone’s entrances and they are rehearsing all these crazy entrances and we’re like, ‘We’re in the main and we don’t have anything. Maybe we can come from the crowd or something.’

We tell Triple H, ‘Everyone has these crazy entrances and we don’t have anything.’ He goes, ‘You guys don’t need anything.’ ‘What do you mean?’ ‘You guys are just gritty. You’re not the kind of guys who would have these big elaborate entrances.’ ‘Alright, can we come out from the crowd?’ He looks around, ‘Look around, where are you going to come from? It’s going to take forever.’ I go, ‘Yeah, I guess that’s true.’ One day I’ll get (the big entrance),”

Kevin Owens To Miss WrestleMania 41

Unfortunately, Kevin Owens will not be in action at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Following reports on April 4th that he had suffered a serious neck injury, Owens appeared live on SmackDown and announced he needed to get neck surgery. Owens was originally scheduled to face Randy Orton at the show.

In another interview, a top WWE star teased a move to Hollywood to follow in The Rock’s footsteps.

Additionally, Sabu will compete in a violent stipulation for his final match.
