Kevin Owens has revealed when his current WWE deal is set to expire.
As more and more top stars reach the end of their contracts, the company has made it a priority that they re-sign so that they are not able to negotiate with the competition. With Seth Rollins being the latest big star to confirm his future, Owens has given an insight into what his own future holds.
Speaking with Metro ahead of Backlash, Owens stated that his current contract runs out in early 2025 and there are no guarantees as to what could happen next:
‘I really don’t take anything for granted, I’ve nine months left on my contact, and I don’t know what can happen from here on out,’
Continuing, the former Universal Champion elaborated on how he does not take anything for granted, referencing tragic losses in the wrestling world:
‘That’s just life. If I’ve learned anything over the last few years, it’s that nothing is guaranteed. I’ve learned that through some very unfortunate events, we’ve lost so many good people that was never expected. That’s just one example of how I do not take anything for granted, how I look at things now.’
Prior to his WWE signing in 2014, Owens made a name for himself in promotions such as Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. Although Owens is a well-known name in the wider world of wrestling, the former Tag Team Champion has no intentions of leaving the company under his own choice:
‘This has been my home for 10 years and it’s beyond the locker room. ‘There’s some very, very, very special people that work behind the scenes that I’ve become very close with, and I really can’t imagine not seeing them as part of my life.’
Discussing further some of the special people he has become close with, Owens said the following:
‘It’s good to have somebody to bounce around, somebody you trust,’ he said. ‘When I got here, I got really close with Finn Balor right away, and I could tell this is gonna be a guy I could trust, and now he’s like a brother to me.’
‘We might not be together all the time, me and Sami are on different brands so we don’t see each other as much. We’re always in contact and when it comes along, we have a sounding board.’
During his time with the promotion, Owens has had a number of highlights including being Steve Austin’s return opponent at WrestleMania 38 and winning the Tag Team Championships alongside best friend Sami Zayn one year later. Concluding the interview, Owens described how fortunate he was to be in this position:
‘It happens every time someone tells me that my work inspires them or helps them through hardships,’ he smiled. ‘There’s nothing like that.’
Kevin Owens Suffers Loss At WWE Backlash Thanks To Returning Star

Following a wild brawl before the start, General Manager Nick Aldis declared that the match would be a street fight. The stipulation would prove to be beneficial for Sikoa and Tonga as they were able to win the match thanks to help from the newest member of The Bloodline.
In a separate interview, Kevin Owens looked back on his match at WWE Backlash.
In a new update in August 2024, there has been no change regarding the WWE star’s deal.
