WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has explained what he doesn’t like about modern independent wrestling and why he isn’t a fan.
Kevin Nash recently made headlines with his apparent thoughts on critical acclaim versus dollars made with comments directed at Will Ospreay.
While Ospreay is not an independent wrestler given his status with New Japan Pro Wrestling, many fans associate his high-flying, risk-taking style with the worst excesses of independent wrestling.
Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash has indicated why modern independent wrestling leaves him cold:
“It’s just not my style. I mean I’m sure people are like ‘Oh you can’t f*cking do it, you can’t do a frog splash…’ Or whatever. But it’s just not my style. I don’t like anything that is choreographed. When you’re up on the corner and somebody’s given a guy another f*cking, and you’re f*cking balancing each other and f*cking using each other’s hand here and right? Like f*ck that, at what point don’t you like poke the guy.”
“It’s so easy that you have to be smart. If you’re gonna like do an all-out hockey fight, unless you guys are gonna go then why would you do that? Because two grown men throwing punches at each other somebody’s going to swell up, and if you don’t get that five minutes in, you start with a hockey f*cking fight, and both those guys f*cking eyes aren’t swelling then you know it’s a work right, so why would you start there? So I don’t know, to me, it’s just always been common sense.”
