WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash is no stranger to tag team action, serving as part of multiple factions throughout his incredible professional wrestling career. Nash understands well that tag team matches can be a thing of beauty, but Vince McMahon seems to have a different view.
Speaking on the latest episode of his Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash spoke about Vince McMahon‘s disdain, saying he and the former WWE Chairman butted heads when it came to their views on how tag team wrestling should be presented.
“Vince hates tags. He always hated tag matches. He used to call them ‘garnish’ and shit. I’m like, ‘Man, you can do so much fucking good shit in a tag match.'”
“I Just Would Have Said F*** This” – Kevin Nash On Teaming With The Ultimate Warrior
Nash’s co-host Sean Oliver joked that Vince McMahon created an entire pay-per-view concept around tag team wrestling, pointing to the fact that WWE Survivor Series was founded on the idea of multi-man tag team matches. Kevin Nash responded by pointing out his disdain for the late Ultimate Warrior, particularly when it came to one edition of Survivor Series where Warrior chose his team and cut promos for all the members involved.
“I would have h*ng myself before I would have been on the Warrior’s team, where he got to cut the promo for you. No matter what, ‘Yeah, we’re going to get you guys together’ — [Kevin imitates The Ultimate Warrior by rambling gibberish] I just would have said, ‘F*** this.'”
Nash himself had plenty of success as a tag team wrestler, becoming WWE Tag Team Champion twice alongside Shawn Michaels before going on to become a nine time WCW World Tag Team Champion. He won that distinction alongside Scott Hall on six occasions, with Diamond Dallas Page twice, and won the title once alongside Sting.
Kevin Nash is also a two time WWE Hall of Famer, entering as his alter ego Diesel as part of the class of 2015 before entering as part of the nWo alongside Scott Hall, X-Pac, and Hulk Hogan as part of the class of 2020. The nWo’s induction actually took place in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the ceremony to be cancelled in 2020.
