During his time performing as Batista in the WWE, Dave Bautista racked up a number of accomplishments. Not only was the star a two time Royal Rumble winner, he had multiple stints as both WWE and World Heavyweight Champion, and he also became a tag team champion with the likes of Ric Flair, John Cena, and Rey Mysterio.
In recent years, Bautista has joined Dwayne Johnson and John Cena in making the transition to Hollywood, taking on roles such as Marvel’s Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy as well as opposing Daniel Craig’s James Bond as Hinx in 2015’s Spectre.
Now, the former WWE Champion has reunited with Daniel Craig once again in Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion where he played the role of Duke Cody, a men’s rights advocate who makes his living streaming videos on YouTube with controversial views as an influencer. Starring alongside Daniel Craig and Dave Bautista are Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay, Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella, and Janelle Monáe as Andi Brand.
“I Couldn’t See Anybody Playing That Part Better Than Him” – Kevin Nash On Dave Bautista’s Glass Onion Performance
Fellow former WWE Champion Kevin Nash praised Dave Bautista’s performance as Duke Cody, saying no one could have done a better job with the role. Nash himself has Hollywood experience with roles in Magic Mike, The Punisher, and John Wick.
“I thought Batista was good in it. I think Batista does a very good job of what he picks as far as roles, but I think [Dave is on it]. He’s into his craft, he’s into his skill. The thing is I couldn’t see anybody playing that part better than him. At the beginning when he’s in the garage with his cars, it gave a vibe of his crib. It’s worth watching, it’s just transparent. Let me put it this way, it wasn’t much as a mystery for me.”
Glass Onion had a one week theatrical run in the United States during the week of Thanksgiving before being released on Netflix on December 23rd. The Knives Out sequel has earned plenty of praise from fans and critics alike, scoring 93% on Rotten Tomatoes as of this writing.
