Kevin Kelly has revealed that he plans to sue the AEW after his termination.
In a recent interview with Eric Bischoff on “83 Weeks: Wise Choices,” Kevin Kelly discussed the circumstances surrounding his departure from AEW and his decision to take legal action against the company.
Kelly detailed the tension he experienced with fellow commentator Ian Riccaboni, who labelled him as an extreme right-wing conspiracy theorist, a characterisation that Kelly vehemently refuted, stating that he was simply an advocate against child trafficking.
That really pi**ed me off. I thought we were friends.
Kelly expressed his frustration with AEW’s handling of the situation, stating that despite approaching the company’s HR department, he was not informed of the outcome due to its confidential nature. He emphasised that he didn’t seek Riccaboni’s termination but rather desired an apology and clarification regarding the impact of the situation on his standing within the company.
Kelly also revealed that his expressions of frustration online led to his termination from the company. When asked if he planned to sue AEW, he affirmed:
Yes, of course.
Kelly offered insights into his experience working with Tony Khan, highlighting Khan’s tendency to micromanage decisions and his vision for appealing to a niche audience. He also noted that while Khan has a talented team, he doesn’t always heed their input, leading to frustration among the backstage personnel.
He wants to appeal to a niche audience with his vision of wrestling. He thinks he can convince people to watch that on a grand scale. The other thing he has done is he has made himself the face of the company. There is a lot of people backstage who aren’t being used, who want to be used that have creative ideas but they aren’t getting through. There would be a Conga line outside Khan’s office waiting to get in to see him.
When Was Kevin Kelly Fired From AEW?
Kevin Kelly was reported let go from AEW in March due to his social media outburst against fellow commentator Ian Riccaboni, who Kelly accused of sabotaging his career and of libel.
