Kevin Kelly, who had been a part of the AEW Collision commentary team since the show’s launch last summer, has been reportedly fired by AEW,
It has been reported by PWTorch that Kevin Kelly has been fired by AEW, Kelly’s absence was noted as he was removed from the AEW roster page earlier today. During the taping of Collision, Fightful reported that the announced team consisted of Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness, with Kelly nowhere to be seen.
Kelly’s recent posts on social media are said to have cost him his job. Last weekend, Kelly took to X to accuse ROH announcer Ian Riccaboni of sabotaging his career and of libel, which led to his termination.
Kelly’s struggles as the host of Collision were apparent, with his unfamiliarity with the product, names of signature moves, and the history of wrestlers and ongoing feuds. Despite his strong reputation for calling English broadcasts of NJPW’s events, his performance in AEW has been perceived as subpar, leading to his replacement by Tony Schiavone a few months into Collision’s run on TNT.
Recently Kevin Kelly stated he is looking to sue AEW.
Why Did Kevin Kelly Leave NJPW?
Kevin Kelly revealed the reason he left NJPW was due to his family missing him being home. Kelly said that missing numerous occasions such as Christmas, New Year, and anniversaries was becoming too much for him and his family to handle.
