Hip Hop star Kevin Gates made a guest appearance on AEW Dynamite and made his presence felt by punching Tony Nese.
After successfully winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships a week ago, Swerve in our Glory held a championship celebration on July 20th in Atlanta.
Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee came to the ring to be interviewed by Tony Schiavone and to toast their new gold. While Lee had a special for the crowd, Strickland gave a shout out to rapper Kevin Gates who was seated at ringside.
The star dropped his latest album Khaza in June, and more recently courted controversy by admitting to having a sexual relationship with his cousin.
With the celebration in full swing, Mark Sterling and Tony Nese arrived to interrupt the festivities. Sterling continued his mission to get Strickland banished from AEW by attempting to get Gates to sign his petition. As Sterling went to work on the microphone, Nese helped himself to the champagne and cake that was positioned at ringside.
Did @iamkevingates just knock out Tony Nese?! What a celebration for Swerve in Our Glory, indeed! It’s #AEWDynamite#FyterFest Night 3 LIVE on @TBSNetwork! pic.twitter.com/CexK5ISUbx

However, Gates refused to sign the petition, instead getting to his feet and punching Nese straight in the face. For his troubles, Sterling got a face full of cake courtesy of Strickland.
The show also saw the return of Jungle Boy who reunited with Luchasaurus, a month after losing the AEW World Tag Team Titles.
