A new report has all but confirmed when and where Kenny Omega will return to AEW following nine months out of action with injuries.
Kenny Omega last competed in an AEW ring back at Full Gear in November 2021 when he lost his AEW World Championship to former tag team partner Hangman Adam Page.
Since then the Canadian star has been recuperating from a plethora of injuries including shoulder issues, a sports hernia, and bouts of vertigo.
Now Fightful Select has reported that Omega will be returning on AEW Dynamite to team with The Young Bucks as The Elite enter the tournament to crown the first AEW Trios Championship.
It was said that Kenny Omega returned to the road for AEW despite his injuries but quickly removed himself again as it was hindering his recovery. Omega had hoped to be back by Forbidden Door in June and it said that his return changed the working plans of The Young Bucks facing off with FTR once again.
The report concludes by saying that Kenny Omega “consciously avoided” publicity during his time on the shelf but a source on the AEW Fight Forever game called Omega’s involvement as “crucial.”
Elsewhere on AEW Dynamite, Bryan Danielson will face off with Daniel Garcia in a two-out-of-three-falls match, while WWE Hall of Famer Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat will be the special guest timekeeper for the show sponsored by Game of Thrones – House of the Dragon.
