An update on Kenny Omega’s road to recovery has been provided.
On December 15th 2023, Kenny Omega announced via social media that he was out of action indefinitely. Posting the update from a hospital bed, it was later confirmed that the former AEW World Champion had been diagnosed with diverticulitis. Since then, Omega has not provided any further updates regarding his recovery process. According to a new report, the recovery has not been going according to plan.
As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Omega has been unable to receive surgery due to inflammation. Furthermore, a new decision on surgery will be made in approximately 2 months time, which would sideline Omega for even longer:
Due to the inflammation being so bad he couldn’t have surgery at the time and as of last week still hadn’t had it. The decision will be made in about seven weeks, based on his healing, on whether he’ll need surgery or not, but if he does, that would put him out of action significantly longer. There is no time frame on when he will return at this point
When Did Kenny Omega Last Wrestle?
Omega’s most recent match for the promotion took place at the start of December when the former World Champion faced off against Ethan Page on an episode of Collision that took place in Canada. It was previously reported that Omega competed in the match while suffering the early stages of Diverticulitis, which Omega initially assumed was pain from a previous hernia.
Everyone at Inside The Ropes would like to continue to wish Kenny Omega a full and speedy recovery.
