Kenny Omega Very Lucky Following Recent Hospitalisation; “50% Chance Of Death”

Kenny Omega Very Lucky Following Hospitalisation;

Kenny Omega thankfully was diagnosed and treated for diverticulitis before it was too late.

The AEW star posted the unfortunate update from a hospital bed on December 15th, where he announced that he would be out of action indefinitely. While Kenny Omega is now said to be on the road to recovery, things could have been much, much worse.

Addressing the events that led to urgent medical care being required, Dave Meltzer stated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Omega still chose to appear and compete at AEW tapings as he believed that the pain was linked to a previous hernia:

Omega had been in pain for some time, including when he wrestled Ethan Page on the 12/5 show in Montreal. He said that he went too long thinking the pain, which he said was off the charts, was related to a previous hernia. He was miserable for weeks, whether eating, drinking or trying to sleep, but he had the mentality it would probably pass in time. He was getting bloated as well but thought it was messing with his diet.

Following a promo segment with Chris Jericho on Dynamite, Omega went to the hospital and was later diagnosed with diverticulitis. It is furthermore stated that if Omega was diagnosed any later, the consequences could have been fatal:

At the 12/13 show in Arlington, TX, the pain was very clear backstage and after doing his promo ended up in the hospital where he got the diagnosis. He was told when diagnosed that he was very lucky he went in because the situation could have been catastrophic, such as getting a blood infection, if he wasn’t diagnosed at the time he was, which would have something like a 50 percent chance of death.

In an update on Kenny Omega’s condition, the former World Champion is yet to receive surgery for diverticulitis.
