It has been confirmed that Kenny Omega will feature in the new video game Like a Dragon: Ishin!
The game is set to be released on February 21st, 2023 across PlayStation 4 and 5, Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced that Omega who will appear alongside Midnight Mass star Rahul Kohli, and are “two of six” special guests. Both Omega and Kohli will appear as Trooper Cards.
“Trooper Cards are a combat feature that grant temporary but devastating power-ups and special abilities when activated real-time in battle,”
Kenny Omega Excited To Be Part Of Like a Dragon: Ishin!
In a press release, AEW star Omega said that as a long-time fan of the Like a Dragon series, he was incredibly excited to be involved.
“I’ve been a fan of the Like a Dragon series for years, and to be forever immortalized in Like a Dragon: Ishin, the newest entry in one of the most iconic game franchise of all time, is surreal,” Omega said in a press statement.
“I’m so excited about my Trooper Card, and I think players are going to love the artwork and attack animation – and the damage I can deal to enemies.”
It was reported back in September that Omega was in line to land the role after being scanned at SEGA’s studios in Japan. Omega had been due to attend the Tokyo Games Show to ramp up excitement further for AEW’s own upcoming video game release.
After a mixed 2022, Kenny Omega started 2023 at the top of his game.
Omega began his year by returning to New Japan Pro-Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom 17. On the show, Omega defeated long-time rival Will Ospreay in a match that fans have already touted as an instant classic. In the process, Omega won the IWGP United States Championship.
The AEW EVP then followed that up with victory alongside the Young Bucks on the January 11th episode of Dynamite over Death Triangle. The Escalera De La Muerte capped off the ‘Best of Seven’ series between the two teams as the Elite claimed the AEW World Trios Titles for a second time.
