AAA today held a press conference to announce its intentions to run their TripleMania XXVIII show during December, including a defence of the AAA Mega Championship by Kenny Omega against Laredo Kid.
Luchablog reported that the show, which had originally been scheduled for August, should be going ahead so long as certain conditions are met. In order to run, either the COVID-19 status of Mexico City improves, as determined by the city’s traffic light system for reopening which is currently at the second most serious, orange, and/or they receive government permission.
Kenny Omega has held the Mega Championship for over a year, beating fellow AEW star Rey Fenix for the title on 19/10/2019.
The title has since been defended twice in AEW; against Jack Evans on Dark and Sammy Guevara on Dynamite. This will mark Kenny’s first defence in AAA, by the time of the show, in a year.
Two other matches have been announced for the show: Pagano will be taking on Chessman in a hair versus hair match.
In tag team action, some of the newly announced Marvel tie in wrestlers will be facing off with Aracno & Leyenda Americana vs Terror Púrpura & Venenoide.
TripleMania is traditionally AAA’s biggest show of the year and has been running since 1993.
