AEW World Champion Kenny Omega is set to challenge for the IMPACT World Championship at the Rebellion pay-per-view on the 24th of April!
The shocking announcement was made on the latest IMPACT! episode. Scott D’Amore, confronting Rich Swann and Moose, declared that “two world champions is one too many.” Therefore, Moose’s TNA World Heavyweight Championship and Swann’s IMPACT World Championship will both be on the line at Sacrifice. The title unification match will take place on the 13th of March.
Not content with making just one huge announcement, D’Amore then set up the main event for Rebellion. In a mammoth cross-promotion match, the victor between Moose and Rich Swann will take on AEW World Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega. Adding even further to the stakes, the match will be title vs. title.
Undeniably a huge moment in western wrestling, the title vs. title match may increase IMPACT and AEW crossover even further. Regardless of the outcome, the loser’s promotion will no doubt seek to recapture their top prize. Though management may not be happy with the match, the competitors certainly will be.
Rich Swann recently revealed to ITR Lead Writer Gary Cassidy that he is lobbying for a match with Omega. Now, he may be about to get his wish. The two men have already faced off at Hard To Kill, as Omega and The Good Brothers defeated the team of Swann, Moose and Chris Sabin. Though he will be keen to avenge this loss, Swann first has to defeat Moose.
Should Omega win the IMPACT World Championship at Rebellion, he will add yet another prestigious title to his collection. He is already in possession of the AEW World Championship and the AAA Mega Championship. Will the ‘Best Bout Machine’ capture another of wrestling’s top prizes?
