Kenny Omega has issued a challenge to team with KENTA on next week’s AEW Dynamite, hot off the heels of the Bullet Club member’s stunning debut at Beach Break!
In a feud long-delayed by travel restrictions, Jon Moxley finally returned to NJPW when he attacked KENTA. The challenger’s Beach break attack was no doubt in response to this, however, he may have found unexpected allies in AEW despite the invasion.
Though he noted that “Brother Switchblade never told me to expect a guest”, Omega – a former Bullet Club leader – proposed teaming with the IWGP US Heavyweight Right To Challenge Briefcase holder on the next edition of Dynamite. Despite never crossing paths in New Japan due to Omega’s departure in 2019, the pair now seem poised to take on Lance Archer and Jon Moxley after Omega threw down the gauntlet.
However, reminding Tony Khan that KENTA is not under an AEW contract, the champion suggested a match type both he and Moxley are familiar with:
“How about this: next week I’ll smooth things over with my newly found friend KENTA, and if you’ve got the guts, Tony, make it a tag match. In fact, well, he’s not contracted by this company, so I can’t see how you could sanction this. Let’s make it, I don’t know, Lights Out, pinfalls count anywhere; something in my wheelhouse. Lance Archer, Jon Moxley. Kenny Omega, brother KENTA.”
This marks yet another crossover between AEW and an external promotion. After working with the likes of IMPACT, NWA and AAA, AEW seem to be ‘open for business‘. With Kenny Omega and KENTA teaming together on Dynamite, fans will no doubt hope for more interaction between the companies.
There are, after all, an awful lot of Bullet Club alumni present in AEW…
