Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega looks like he will be absent for the foreseeable future from AEW as he says he’s taking time away following his loss at Full Gear.
At Full Gear on November 13th, Kenny Omega had a date with destiny that was a long time coming as he defended his AEW World Title against former tag team partner Hangman Adam Page. In an epic encounter, Page finally silenced the doubt in his own mind as he unleashed his own brand of ‘Cowboy Sh*t’ and defeated Omega for the gold.
On AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, Kenny Omega appeared with Adam Cole and The Young Bucks in a backstage segment. A clearly rattled Omega went on to say he’s taking time away from the company to “fix” things:
“I haven’t watched the match back from Full Gear and people are already asking me when’s the rematch gonna be? When are you gonna get your belt back Kenny? I lost that match, The Elite lost the night. Quite frankly I’m a little disgusted, not in you Hanger, you won. Congrats, really congrats.”
“But I feel like there’s things I’ve gotta fix, there’s things I’ve gotta change and I can’t do it here. [Turning to The Elite] So if I can count on you to hold the fort when I’m gone I’d really appreciate it.”
Adam Cole then channelled a favourite wrestling meme of the internet when he replied “Cleaner I got this.” In a sign of things perhaps to come, Omega then had to awkwardly qualify that he was in fact addressing The Young Bucks.

According to a recent report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Kenny Omega may require surgery to fix his long-standing shoulder issue. The report notes that it is hoped there will be more clarity on the situation in the coming weeks.
It had earlier been reported on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer that Kenny Omega would be evaluated at the November 17th episode of AEW Dynamite. After being checked out a decision would then be made as to whether the ‘Best Bout Machine’ will need to take a break from the ring.
Following his promo on Dynamite, it now looks likely that Omega will be taking a break from his wrestling duties with no timeframe for a return as of yet.
