Kenny Omega is going for AEW gold at Revolution.
At Grand Slam Australia, Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay faced the Don Callis Family’s Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita in a huge tag team match. The hard-fought battle saw Omega and Ospreay win their first match as a team, but the pair haven’t finished their feud with the Don Callis Family just yet.
Speaking backstage after the match, Ospreay told Fletcher he would meet him inside a steel cage at Revolution. Meanwhile, Omega laid down a challenge for Takeshita to put the International Title on the line, daring him to find out if he could beat the Best Bout Machine for a third time.
“As happy as I should be teaming with my good buddy Will Ospreay, I’m still kind of p**sed off a little bit because for an entire year I had to listen to people like you, Takeshita, people like Don Callis talk about how you beat me twice in one week, how the International Title is the pinnacle of this company because you’re defending it all around the world.
“Well, listen here Takeshita. You really want to prove that you’re the best? You really want to prove that you’re the rightful champion? I’ve got the time and I’ve got the place. Revolution, Los Angeles, put that International Title on the line and see if you can say you beat Kenny Omega three times.”
Will Kenny Omega Face Konosuke Takeshita At AEW Revolution?
While Omega wants Takeshita, Tony Khan has thrown a spanner into the works. While Omega will face the International Champion at Revolution, it has been announced that there will be an “International Championship Series” leading up to the pay-per-view.
The series will see Orange Cassidy take on Roderick Strong on the February 19th edition of Dynamite, with the winner going on to face Takeshita for the title the following week. Then, whoever is champion at Revolution will put the title on the line against Omega.
