Kenny Omega looks set to appear as part of a SEGA video game franchise after being scanned for the role while in Japan.
Despite currently being suspended by AEW, Kenny Omega has remained busy, making a number of public appearances.
The former AEW World Champion is currently in Japan for the Tokyo Games Show in order to promote the upcoming AEW video game Fight Forever, However, the star also looks set to appear as part of SEGA’s Yakuza franchise after being scanned for the role while visiting SEGA Studios.
Japanese stars Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tetsuya Naito, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima and Toru Yano are all part of Yakuza 6.
Despite Omega being in Japan to promote AEW’s own video game, the star will no longer be part of AEW’s presentation.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that as a result of his suspension, Omega has been pulled from the appearance.
“Omega’s in Japan right now, and it’s interesting because the original trip was partially to promote the AEW video game because they’ve got the Tokyo Game Show. Because of his suspension, he’s not going to be involved with the presentation of it there.”
Following CM Punk’s explosive comments at the post-All Out media scrum, a brawl erupted backstage featuring the now-former World Champion, Omega, the Young Bucks, Ace Steel and a number of other backstage personnel. However, there were also a number of people attempting to break up the melee.
In the days after the incident, everyone involved was suspended as a third-party was brought in to investigate exactly what happened. This also led to the World Championship and the Trios Championships being vacated.
