Kenny Omega has spoken about which WWE Superstar he would like to meet in the ring to “prove who the real champion is”.
In the last few weeks, AEW has made waves by signing former WWE Superstars Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson, who both made their debuts with the promotion at All Out on September 5th. They have also brought CM Punk, who famously walked out on WWE following the Royal Rumble in 2014, into the company.
Cole immediately joined his longtime friends, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, in The Elite, assisting them in beating down Christian Cage and Jurassic Express. Danielson then shocked the wrestling world when he made his way to the ring to help the trio fight off The Elite. On the following episode of Dynamite, the ‘American Dragon’ challenged the ‘Best Bout Machine’ to face him in a non-title match. This took place on September 22nd at AEW Grand Slam to much acclaim.
In an interview with Tokyo Sports where Omega claimed that “90% of wrestlers in WWE want to be in AEW”, he was asked which current WWE wrestler he would want to sign to the company. In response, Omega named the ‘Tribal Chief’ himself, WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, saying that it would be an opportunity to “prove who the real champion is”.
“There are already a lot of people coming… So I don’t really know who. If I was forced, I’d say Roman Reigns. I think it’s a good opportunity to prove who the real champion is.”
Recently, Kenny Omega has also spoken of a WWE Hall of Famer he would have liked to wrestle, Olympic Gold Medallist Kurt Angle. Omega praised Angle and said it would have been a dream match for him.
