Kenny Omega is reportedly putting his body through the wringer as wrestling’s ‘belt collector’ with the AEW and IMPACT World Champion saying he sometimes feels close to hanging up his boots and calling it a day.
Omega recently held off the challenge of Pac and Orange Cassidy in the first-ever three-way match for the AEW World Championship. That win did not come without a cost according to a new report by Dave Meltzer in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer has reported that Omega required seven stitches after slicing open his hand while delivering belt shots to the head of Pac. The injury was said to come on the fourth shot for which Omega used the AEW World Championship which Meltzer notes is “especially sharp.”
As well as the injury to his hand Kenny Omega is reportedly suffering from a deep bone bruise near his tailbone as well as an athletic hernia. In addition to this Omega is said to be suffering from the normal wear and tear on his knees that wrestlers are prone to suffering from. To make matters worse ‘The Cleaner’ was said to be suffering from a stomach virus in the past week.
Meltzer noted that Omega has been in a lot of pain getting through his recent big matches, of which there seems to be no end in sight as it was announced he will face Moose on IMPACT Wrestling’s Against The Odds show. That match will however take place at the home of AEW, Daily’s Place.
At the recent AEW fan fest before Double Or Nothing Kenny Omega seemingly told fans in attendance that some days he feels like he might be nearing the end of his in-ring career because his body is feeling worse. He also however added that having live fans back in attendance help him feel his best.
