Kenny Omega’s plans while in Japan have been changed significantly as a result of his suspension by AEW.
Following CM Punk’s explosive comments at the post-All Out media scrum, a brawl erupted backstage featuring the now-former World Champion, Omega, the Young Bucks, Ace Steel and a number of other backstage personnel. However, there were also a number of people attempting to break up the melee.
In the days after the incident, everyone involved was suspended as a third-party was brought in to investigate exactly what happened. This also led to the World Championship and the Trios Championships being vacated.
Although a number of suspensions have been lifted, the sanctions against Omega, the Bucks, CM Punk and Ace Steel remain.
Despite his suspension Omega has made a number of public appearances, flying to Japan alongside Christopher Daniels and Michael Nakazawa. Omega’s trip was intended to promote AEW upcoming video game Fight Forever, and he was scheduled to appear at the Tokyo Games Show. However, the former World Champion will no longer be part of the presentation.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that as a result of his suspension, Omega will not be involved.
“Omega’s in Japan right now, and it’s interesting because the original trip was partially to promote the AEW video game because they’ve got the Tokyo Game Show. Because of his suspension, he’s not going to be involved with the presentation of it there.”
The AEW presentation will feature a number of exhibition matches featuring the likes of Christopher Daniels, Maki Itoh, Riho, Michael Nakazawa and Konosuke Takeshita.
